This Red Micarta Aluminum s30v Buck 110 just retired my trusted three dot Buck 110. Half the weight and great blade steel. Drop point blade works great. So far the best of the aluminum series Buck 110.

What a weight difference in this knife, its beautiful.

Great knife, sharp and half the weight of a regular 110.

My heavyweight brass 110s are great, but I wanted lighter weight. My super lightweight 110LT is an outstanding tool, but it’s a tad TOO light and not the handsomest of knives. This one hits the Goldilocks spot. It’s super lightweight, even in the pocket, but weighs bit more than the LT. It’s bright and shiny like an original 110, but untarnishable and silvery (which I prefer). The S30V is a great step up from the both previous 420HC, which I was always touching up, and the original 440c, which always needed touching up but was more difficult to sharpen. S30V is quick to touch up on a steel and strop (though real sharpening requires some patience) but it just seldom needs it. It seems to be a great steel in its performance range that doesn’t break the bank. Barn chores and food tasks are no problem for it. Breaking down boxes is a breeze. I have yet to use for fishing and hunting, but I’m sure it will excel given its completely stainless components and impervious micarta scales.

The blade shape is new for me in folders. I love it. It’s robust and doesn’t lose much piercing to the clip point. It’ll get at splinters, drill a hole in a board, and carve just fine. OK, so you probably can’t put that extra hole in your belt as nicely as with a clip point 110, but you’re never going to break the tip on this one (not that I ever have, but some complain about this).

Now, about these scales. I love the color and texture, but I’m a bit concerned they might be too smooth. A little bit of roughness would go a long way to ease my fear of slipperiness in cases of water, fish guts, and blood. But as this is my only complaint, I’m in good shape with this knife. I’m very happy with it!

If you’re on the fence, dont wait. Buy it! You’ll be glad you did.

    I didn’t recived it yet.

One year on, this knife is still my favorite. It carries in sheath, back pocket, and jacket pocket equally well. Great cutter with robust blade tip, the aluminum frame is incredibly strong.
